Daniel Garcia is a Mexican-American movement artist, educator, and dance filmmaker born and raised in the binational cities of Juarez, Chihuahua, and El Paso, Texas.
He holds a BFA in Dance with a concentration in Performance and Choreography from Texas State University and an MFA in Dance from Texas Woman’s University. Garcia has performed numerous times at conferences and festivals such as the American College Dance Association (ACDA), COCO Dance Festival (Trinidad and Tobago), World Dance Alliance of Americas, and at The Blanton Museum of Art as an ensemble member of Diverse Space Dance Theatre in Austin, Texas.
Daniel recently had the privilege of studying with the Limón Dance Company, Institute and Foundation in New York City, and has had the opportunity to train and learn from Alan Lake Factori(e), Tamisha A. Guy (A.I.M by Kyle Abraham), Kathryn Alter (Limón), Kimie Parker (Sidra Bell) and more.
His work has been showcased nationally and internationally at Instituto de Arquitectura, Diseño y Arte (Chihuahua, Mexico), Reel East Texas Film Festival (Kilgore, Texas), Opine Dance Festival (Philadelphia, PA), COCO Dance Festival (Trinidad and Tobago), and Contact Dance International Dance Festival (Toronto, Ontario). Additionally, Garcia has worked closely with Frisco ISD, Socorro ISD, and El Paso ISD. He was commissioned to present his work at El Paso Community College.
Currently, Garcia is an Adjunct Professor of Dance at the University of North Texas and an artist in residence with Garage Arts Project.
